Indian shooters Anjum Moudgil and Sift Kaur Samra did not qualify for the final of the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Paris Olympics, finishing 18th and 31st respectively.
Anjum, participating in her second Olympics, scored 584 with 26 inner 10s. Sift, the reigning Asian Games champion, shot 575 with 22 inner 10s but had a difficult time in the standing series, shooting 93 and 94.
Despite strong performances in the kneeling and prone stages, Sift’s score was ultimately impacted by a poor performance in standing, which saw her scoring 93, 94, and a disappointing 187.
This was a stark contrast to her performance at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, where she secured a qualification score of 594 and won the top prize with a world record score of 469.6.
