Indian badminton stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty saw their Olympic aspirations crumble on Thursday as they fell to Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the men's doubles quarterfinal at the Paris Games.

Ranked among the favorites for the gold medal, Satwik and Chirag, the reigning Asian Games and Commonwealth Games champions, lost 21-13, 14-21, 16-21 in a closely contested match against the world number 3 Malaysian pair.
