Lakshya Sen, the young Indian badminton sensation, experienced a heartbreaking loss at the Paris Games on Monday, failing to secure an Olympic medal after a dramatic three-game bout against Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia.
Sen dominated early on but a nine-point streak from Lee changed the match's dynamics. The Malaysian player triumphed with a score of 13-21, 21-16, 21-11 in a 71-minute contest to clinch the bronze.
Sen's defeat means India will return without a badminton medal from the Olympics for the first time in 12 years. Only Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu have previously brought home Olympic badminton medals for India.
