Nick Hockley to Step Down as Cricket Australia CEO in 2025
Nick Hockley, the chief executive of Cricket Australia, will step down in March 2025 after five years in the role. Hockley initially took charge as interim CEO in June 2020 and was later appointed full-time. During his tenure, he implemented a new strategy and brokered significant media deals.
Nick Hockley, the chief executive of Cricket Australia (CA), will step down in March 2025 after a five-year tenure, the cricket board announced on Tuesday. Hockley assumed the role as interim CEO in June 2020 following the resignation of Kevin Roberts amid criticism over the management of the COVID-19 shutdown. He was officially named full-time CEO 11 months later.
During his time, Hockley was instrumental in navigating the organization through the pandemic, formulating a new five-year strategy, and securing seven-year media deals with Seven West Media, Foxtel Group, and Disney Star in India. "This was a difficult decision," Hockley stated, reflecting on his 13 years of involvement in Australian cricket.
"However, with a promising summer ahead and significant advancements in our five-year plan, now is the right time to seek new challenges while allowing ample time for the board to select a successor to continue building on our strong foundation." Under his leadership, CA introduced an updated player MOU with the Australian Cricketers' Association, resulting in a 66% pay increase for women cricketers, and Australia clinched six ICC World Cup titles.
