Kishore Jena's Struggle in Olympic Javelin Qualification
Indian javelin thrower Kishore Jena finished ninth in the men's Group A qualification round with an 80.73m throw, approaching an early exit from the Olympics. His fate now depends on Group B results, where Neeraj Chopra will compete later. Only those surpassing 84m or among the top 12 will advance to the finals.
Indian javelin thrower Kishore Jena experienced a challenging day on Tuesday, finishing ninth in the men's Group A qualification round with a throw of 80.73 meters at the Olympics. This puts Jena on the edge of an early exit from the competition.
The athlete now waits anxiously for the results of Group B, which includes superstar Neeraj Chopra, set to start his campaign later in the day. Advancement to the final requires a throw of 84 meters or more, or ranking among the best 12 performers across both groups.
Jena's first attempt hit 80.73 meters, but he fouled his second try and managed just 80.21 meters on his last effort. Julian Weber of Germany led Group A with an impressive 87.76 meters. Other top performers included Kenya's Julius Yego (85.97 meters) and Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch (85.63 meters), who claimed second and third spots respectively.
