Eight-time Olympic champions India clinched bronze at Paris, defeating Spain 2-1 in the play-off match. India last won gold in 1980. Manpreet, full of praise for his team's mental strength, highlighted their strong defense despite playing with 10 players for 42 minutes in a tense quarterfinal against Britain after Amit Rohidas received a red card. India won in a penalty shootout but later lost to Germany in the semifinals.
Manpreet lauded veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who retired after an illustrious career, and shared his personal admiration for the player. Despite his veteran status, Manpreet has no plans to retire soon and aims to maintain his fitness to continue playing until 2028.
