Former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel has been appointed as the new bowling coach for the Indian cricket team, according to an announcement by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Wednesday.
Shah confirmed the news, stating, ''Yes, Morne Morkel has been appointed bowling coach of the senior India men's team.''
The 39-year-old Morkel was the top choice for the position by the new head coach Gautam Gambhir, who previously worked with Morkel at Lucknow Super Giants. Morkel has an impressive career; he has appeared in 86 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 44 T20Is for South Africa, amassing a total of 544 international wickets.
