In a surprising turn of events, Zeeshan Ali announced his resignation as the coach of the Indian Davis Cup team on Wednesday. This major decision comes just a month before the team's next assignment against Sweden in Stockholm.
"I have resigned as the coach of the Davis Cup team," Ali confirmed to PTI. The 54-year-old had been serving as the team's coach since 2013, having replaced Nandan Bal ahead of the tie against South Korea in New Delhi.
Reflecting on his tenure, Ali highlighted his unique achievements, including serving as a player, coach, and captain of the Davis Cup team. "I felt that I have already achieved whatever there was to achieve as far as Davis Cup was concerned," he remarked. The Indian team is set to face Sweden on an indoor hard court from September 14-15.
