Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday expressed his dismay over wrestler Vinesh Phogat missing out on an Olympic medal at the Paris Games after being disqualified for being 100gm overweight.
Mann emphasized that coaches and support staff must ensure that wrestlers adhere to weight regulations as they receive substantial salaries funded by the public.
Vinesh's hopes of an Olympic silver were dashed when the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected her appeal against the disqualification. Mann visited Vinesh’s home recently and noted the collective disappointment of Indian fans. He also commented on political affairs within the AAP.
