On Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the Indian athletes who recently returned from the Paris Olympics. Hosting the contingent at his residence on 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, Modi expressed his honor and gratitude for their tremendous efforts and achievements.

The Indian men's hockey team gifted the Prime Minister a signed jersey and hockey stick. Modi praised goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, known as 'The Wall,' and expressed hope that the athletes would continue striving for gold. Shooter Manu Bhaker, who made history with two Olympic medals, shared that PM Modi's encouragement was invaluable to her.

Badminton player Lakshya Sen spoke about his disciplined training under coach Prakash Padukone, while former hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh reflected on his two-decade-long career. India's campaign in Paris concluded with six medals, including five bronze and one silver, marking notable achievements by Bhaker and the hockey team.
