Cedrine Kerbaol soloed to a landmark victory on Friday, becoming the first French rider to win a stage in the women's Tour de France.

Kerbaol celebrated her triumph by making a heart sign with her hands as she crossed the finish line of the sixth stage, a challenging 159.2-kilometer route from Remiremont to Morteau.

The 23-year-old seized the lead at the top of the final climb, exploiting her descending skills to finish 21 seconds ahead of her closest competitors, Marianne Vos and Liane Lippert. This victory elevated her to second place in the general classification, 16 seconds behind Kasia Niewiadoma.

Niewiadoma had taken the overall lead on Thursday after defending champion Demi Vollering crashed and lost significant time. The race continues with a mountainous penultimate stage on Saturday, culminating in a decisive climb up the Alpe d'Huez.
