Southampton Secures Ugochukwu on Loan from Chelsea

Southampton has signed Lesley Ugochukwu from Chelsea on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old midfielder, initially from Stade Rennes, has made 15 appearances for Chelsea. The club also acquired Cameron Archer from Aston Villa for 15 million pounds. Their Premier League opener is against Newcastle United.

Southampton has secured midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu on a season-long loan from Chelsea, the club announced on Friday. The 20-year-old midfielder joined Chelsea last year from French club Stade Rennes for approximately 30 million euros, making 15 appearances for the west London team.

Ugochukwu, a product of the Rennes Academy, debuted in 2021 and accumulated 60 appearances for the French side. 'Southampton has a great history,' said the France under-21 international. 'Many great players have played for Southampton, and I'm thrilled to be part of the team. It was an easy decision.'

In addition, Southampton has signed forward Cameron Archer from Aston Villa on a four-year deal worth 15 million pounds. The newly promoted Premier League club will kick off their campaign against Newcastle United on Saturday.
