Manglenthang Kipgen's spectacular left-footed goal secured a 1-0 victory for India over Maldives, ensuring their spot in the SAFF U20 Championship semi-final. The Blue Colts will face Bangladesh next. Kipgen, a clutch performer, delivered when it mattered, guiding India past a resilient Maldives defense.

India secured a 1-0 victory over Maldives in the SAFF U20 Championship after a stunning left-footed strike from Manglenthang Kipgen. This win, achieved at the ANFA Complex in Lalitpur, Nepal, on Friday, August 23, 2024, propels India to the semi-final as they dominate Group B.

Kipgen, last year's SAFF U19 MVP, came off the bench to deliver the match-winning goal from 25 yards out. India's initial attacks, spearheaded by a more dynamic midfield and wingers, were met with strong resistance from Maldives goalkeeper Mohamed Yaameen, who deflected multiple shots.

Despite India's early setbacks, Kipgen's introduction changed the game's dynamics. His pivotal goal ensured a crucial win, setting up a semi-final clash against Bangladesh on Monday, August 26, and affirming India's strong form in the tournament.
