From Battlefield to Paralympics: The Inspiring Journey of Yevhenii Korinets

Ukrainian soldier Yevhenii Korinets thought his life was over after being severely wounded in Bakhmut last year. At 25, he felt despair over the life he hadn't lived.

Seventeen months later, Korinets has turned his life around. As a former military paramedic with an amputated leg, he now trains with the national sitting volleyball team, setting his sights on the Paris Paralympics.

Korinets is among 140 Ukrainian athletes competing after Russia's invasion, which has caused massive injuries. Sports have become a vital part of his recovery, and he encourages other veterans to join for better rehabilitation.
