FC Goa has re-signed midfielder Sahil Tavora, who previously played for the club in 2016. Tavora returns with extensive experience, having played for top ISL clubs including Mumbai City and Hyderabad FC. The 28-year-old aims to contribute significantly to the team under head coach Manolo Marquez.

FC Goa has officially announced the re-signing of Sahil Tavora on a multi-year deal. The versatile midfielder, who was part of FC Goa in the 2016 season, brings valuable experience and a winning mentality to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season.

A product of the Brasil Futebol Academia and the Sesa Football Academy in Goa, Tavora embarked on his professional career with Dempo SC in 2013. His career trajectory includes stints with top Indian Super League (ISL) clubs such as Mumbai City and Hyderabad FC. Notably, his return to FC Goa holds special significance for the 28-year-old, who last represented the Gaurs in 2016.

During the 2016 season, Tavora netted two goals in six appearances, including a memorable winner in a 5-4 comeback victory against Chennaiyin FC. His impressive goal from an acute angle remains one of the iconic moments in the Club's history. 'I'm thrilled to be back at FC Goa after eight years. It's a homecoming for me, and I aim to contribute fully in training and matches to help the Club achieve its goals,' Tavora expressed.

'The team had an impressive run last season, reaching the semi-finals in both the Durand Cup and ISL Cup playoffs. This year, I hope we can push further,' he added. FC Goa's head coach, Manolo Marquez, was instrumental in Tavora’s decision to return. 'Sahil is an intelligent player with excellent tactical awareness. His field positioning provides solutions for his teammates, and he brings a winning attitude to the squad. I am confident he will make a significant impact this season,' Marquez stated.

Tavora’s standout moment came while playing for Hyderabad FC in the ISL 2021-22 final, where his goal led to a penalty shootout victory, clinching the club’s first major silverware. Interestingly, this achievement occurred at Fatorda, FC Goa's home ground, adding a poetic touch to his return. 'Coach Manolo's presence here is very exciting for me. He's one of the best coaches in Indian football, and I look forward to continuing my development under him,' said Tavora. (ANI)
