Indian Chess Prodigies Shine at Commonwealth Rapid Chess Championship

Indian chess players delivered a stellar performance at the Commonwealth Rapid Chess Championship, securing three podium finishes. Grandmaster Mitraba Guha took gold, GM Panneerselvam Iniyan won silver, and GM Laxman Rajaram claimed bronze. All 14 Indian participants finished within the top 30, with notable ranks among both male and female players.

India's chess players delivered an impressive performance at the recent Commonwealth Rapid Chess Championship, capturing three podium finishes and making their nation proud.

Grandmaster Mitraba Guha clinched the gold medal with a stellar 6.5 points, leading the charge. GM Panneerselvam Iniyan followed closely, earning the silver with six points. Securing the bronze was GM Laxman Rajaram with 5.5 points.

Of the 14 Indian participants, all placed within the top 30. Among the notable rankings, Shyaam Nikhil P stood out in 5th with 4 points, Sayantan Das in 8th with 4.5 points, and Hari Madhavan NB in 9th with 4 points. On the women's side, FIDE Master Kalyani Sirin tied for a strong ninth-place finish with 4 points, followed by Mary Ann Gomes (12th with 4 points), Sakshi Chitlange and Sagar Tejaswini (joint-16th with 4 points), and Arushi Kotwal (20th with 3.5 points).
