Dutch striker Memphis Depay has inked a two-year contract with Corinthians following his departure from Atletico Madrid as a free agent in July, the Brazilian football club revealed on Monday.

While the financial specifics were not disclosed, local media suggest the deal is valued at 70 million Brazilian real ($12.54 million). The 30-year-old forward, who has netted 46 goals in 98 caps for the Netherlands, did not make the squad for the current month's Nations League fixtures. Ronald Koeman's team triumphed over Bosnia 5-2 on Saturday and are set to face Germany on Tuesday.

Despite his absence from the national roster, Depay's international future remains bright. Koeman assured that the move to Brazil would not harm his international prospects. "I disapproved of Steven Bergwijn's transfer to Saudi Arabia, but Memphis's situation is different," Koeman stated on Monday. "The level of the league in Brazil is competitive; hence, he can still be on the national team, subject to his fitness and performance." Depay's career includes stints with PSV Eindhoven, Olympique Lyon, Barcelona, and Manchester United. Last season, he scored nine goals in 31 matches for Atletico Madrid. ($1 = 5.5833 reais)
