Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is set for a swift return from injury, missing Sunday's Premier League clash at home to Arsenal, confirmed manager Pep Guardiola. The 33-year-old midfielder faced a suspected groin issue during the 0-0 draw against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday.

City will host Championship side Watford in the League Cup third round on Tuesday and travel to Newcastle United in the Premier League over the weekend. Guardiola remains optimistic about De Bruyne's return following City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

'I don't think it will be long,' stated Guardiola regarding De Bruyne's expected comeback. 'I cannot say how long for, I don't know for Newcastle but it won't be long. He has discomfort in his legs.' Despite previous injuries, De Bruyne made a notable comeback at St James' Park last season, scoring in a 3-2 victory over Newcastle. Manchester City currently leads the standings with 13 points after five games.
