Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, with Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, honored the Indian chess team for their double gold medal triumph at the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad during a ceremony in New Delhi on Thursday.

Addressing the players, Mandaviya emphasized India's historic ties to chess, describing it as an integral part of the country's cultural heritage. 'By winning on the global stage, you have made the nation proud while honoring our traditional legacy,' Mandaviya stated.

The minister stressed India's strength in both manpower and brainpower, pledging governmental support for nurturing sports talent. He revealed plans to propel India into the top five sports nations by 2024. Mandaviya also urged the medalists to inspire youth through the Viksit Bharat Ambassador - Yuva Connect Programme, aligning with PM Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047.

The Indian chess team celebrated their historic wins, with the men's and women's teams clinching gold in their respective categories by defeating Slovenia and Azerbaijan. Four players earned individual golds for their stellar performances. The champions thanked PM Modi, whose interaction with them added inspiration to their future endeavors.
