Nick Hockley, the chief executive of Cricket Australia, is set to resign after a five-year stint. His departure is set for March next year, once the current cricket season concludes.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Cricket Australia's chair, Mike Baird, along with other directors, communicated to Hockley that he was not viewed as a long-term fit for the role. However, he was given the opportunity to exit on amicable terms.

Hockley recognized the difficulty of the decision, stating that the present time was ideal for new challenges, especially with Australia planning for another expansive summer and a strategic framework in place. Meanwhile, focus remains on the imminent five-Test series against India, and succession plans are in progress, with James Allsopp seen as a leading candidate to succeed Hockley.
