The eagerly anticipated final day of the first Test match between India and New Zealand, set to take place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, faced delays due to a wet outfield. ESPNcricinfo reports that play will resume at 10:15 am on Sunday with the lunch break postponed to 12:30 PM IST owing to lost playtime.

In the preceding day's thrilling developments, India, initially cruising at 407-3, suffered a shocking collapse, losing seven wickets while adding just under 60 runs. The hammering in their first innings, where they managed only 46 runs, lingered over their performance. Sarfaraz Khan's impressive 150 and Rishab Pant's 99 were the highlights, although KL Rahul faltered again.

New Zealand's bowlers capitalized on the fresh ball post-Tea, with Ravindra Jadeja falling first for 5 to William O'Rourke. Despite reaching 450 in 94.5 overs, India's wickets fell steadily. With Ravichandran Ashwin out and Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj falling swiftly thereafter, India ended the innings at 462, leaving 10 wickets to India to secure victory.
