India A's Devdutt Padikkal and Sai Sudharsan delivered standout performances to put their team in a dominant position against Australia A during the second day of the first unofficial Test match in Mackay. The promising young cricketers remained unbeaten at the close, contributing 208/2 to the scoreboard, with Padikkal scoring 80 off 167 balls and Sudharsan closing in on a century with 96 off 185 deliveries.

Despite early losses, where Abhimanyu Easwaran and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad departed cheaply, Padikkal and Sudharsan provided stability. Fergus O'Neill dismissed Gaikwad with a score of just five. Abhimanyu Easwaran followed, running himself out for 12, leaving India A teetering at 30/2.

However, their combined resilience and skill helped India A recover impressively, as they negated Australia A's bowling attack with ease. The pair's crucial 178-run partnership hamstrung Nathan McSweeney's side, forcing them to use seven different bowlers to break through their ranks. Despite their best efforts, Australia A ended the day struggling both tactically and physically.

Earlier in the day, Mukesh Kumar's exceptional bowling helped contain Australia A's first innings, taking six wickets for 46. Other Indian bowlers, Prasidh Krishna (3/59) and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who captured McSweeney for 39, contributed to restricting Australia to 195. Brendan Doggett was Australia's bowling hero, claiming six wickets for 15 runs as India A were earlier dismissed for 107.
