American athlete Grant Fisher shattered the world indoor 5,000 meters record at Boston University, following up on his recent 3,000 meters record. Fisher completed the race in 12:44.09, surpassing the previous record by Kenenisa Bekele set in 2004. Jimmy Gressier added to the excitement with a new European indoor record.
American athlete Grant Fisher has cemented his status as a record-breaker by setting a new world indoor 5,000 meters record at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Fisher's impressive time of 12:44.09 smashed the long-standing record set by Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele in 2004.
This achievement comes just a week after Fisher set the indoor 3,000 meters record at the Millrose Games in New York, proving his exceptional form this season. At 27, he continues to build on his successful last year, where he won bronze medals in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters events at the Paris Olympics.
In second place, Jimmy Gressier also made headlines, clocking in at 12:54.92. Gressier not only secured the runner-up position but also broke the European indoor record, previously held by Spain's Alberto Garcia, and improved his own French national record.
