AIFF Appoints Subrata Paul and Unveils Youth Development Plans
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed former goalkeeper Subrata Paul as the national team director. Additionally, Bibiano Fernandes has been recommended as the head coach for the U20 men's team. The AIFF also proposed grassroots football initiatives and development pathways for nurturing young talent.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has taken major steps toward enhancing Indian football by appointing former India goalkeeper Subrata Paul as the national team director. This significant decision was made during a technical committee meeting led by former India captain IM Vijayan.
Alongside the appointment of Paul, the committee also recommended Bibiano Fernandes to take charge as head coach of the under-20 men’s team. Emphasizing the development of grassroots football, the committee discussed introducing annual inter-school tournaments. These competitions aim to scout talent for the national youth league at various age groups, ensuring a robust development pathway.
AIFF Secretary General Anilkumar Prabhakaran highlighted plans to run youth academies in partnerships with FIFA in different states, including ongoing projects in Odisha and future launches in Telangana. These initiatives are expected to cultivate quality players, propelling India to excel in future football competitions.
