Swiss Triumph: Von Allmen Leads Historic Podium Sweep

Newly-crowned world champion Franjo Von Allmen spearheaded a Swiss podium sweep at Crans-Montana, achieving his first World Cup downhill victory on home snow. Von Allmen led ahead of overall World Cup leader Marco Odermatt, who finished just 0.13 seconds behind, and world championship bronze medallist Alexis Monney.

This win marks Von Allmen's first downhill victory in the World Cup after securing gold at the world championships in Saalbach, Austria. He previously celebrated a World Cup Super-G win in Wengen last month. 'The first World Cup victory in downhill, here with the home crowd and also with two Swiss guys on the podium just feels amazing,' Von Allmen remarked.

Marco Odermatt continues to lead the downhill standings with 445 points, compared to Von Allmen's 372. Odermatt also extended his overall lead to 400 points over Norway's Henrik Kristoffersen as he aims for a fourth consecutive crystal globe.
