Italian tennis star Lorenzo Musetti's Wimbledon journey came to an unexpected halt in the first round as he was defeated by Georgian qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili. The match unfolded on Tuesday with Musetti making a comeback in the second set after a sluggish start, only to be overcome by Basilashvili's resilient play.

Despite his valiant efforts, Musetti could not maintain his momentum in the later stages, succumbing 6-2 4-6 7-5 6-1. This marked Musetti's first match since his retirement from the French Open semi-final against Carlos Alcaraz due to a leg injury.

Basilashvili's triumph on a muggy Court Two stands as his first Grand Slam victory over a top-10 player, and his first Grand Slam match win since Wimbledon 2022. Musetti was unable to recreate his previous year's semi-final achievement.
