Lorena Wiebes Triumphs in Chaotic Tour de France Femmes Stage 3

In a nail-biting finish, Lorena Wiebes surged past competitors to clinch victory in the third stage of the Tour de France Femmes on Monday. Her powerful sprint edged out Marianne Vos, who despite the defeat managed to regain the overall race lead after a testing 163.5km parcours from La Gacilly to Angers.

Vos lost out to Wiebes in a photo-finish but reclaimed the yellow jersey, which had briefly belonged to Kim Le Court Pienaar. "It was very hectic," Vos commented on the dramatic stage that also saw a significant crash in the closing kilometers.

Notable absences included Elisa Longo Borghini, who withdrew earlier due to illness. The race featured early attacks that eventually fizzled, leaving Wiebes poised for her decisive move. The competition is set to continue on Tuesday with a largely flat route from Saumur to Poitiers.
