Bumrah's Next Move: Test or T20?

On Friday, Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah was released from the national team after completing his three Test matches in the ongoing series against England. With the pacer having bowled 119.4 overs across three matches, the debate now circulates around which format Bumrah should focus on next.

Bumrah took 14 wickets over the course of the series, twice achieving five-wicket hauls at Headingley and Lord's. Despite this, his stint in Manchester saw him concede over 100 runs in a single innings for the first time in his career. This marks Bumrah's total at 219 wickets in 48 Tests.

As India's next assignment, the Asia Cup T20, approaches, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) faces a challenging decision. Prioritizing Bumrah's workload, they must decide whether he should participate in the Asia Cup or save him for the Test series against the West Indies, which begins shortly after.
