Marseille has strengthened its attacking lineup by securing Brazilian winger Igor Paixão from Feyenoord, in a transaction that could rise to 35 million euros.
The 25-year-old winger was a standout player last season, netting 18 goals in 47 appearances and earning the title of Dutch player of the year. The French club, which finished second behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 last season, beat out interest from newly promoted Premier League side, Leeds, to secure Paixão's stellar services.
Complementing this acquisition, coach Roberto De Zerbi has made several strategic moves in the transfer market, bringing back fan-favorite striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while augmenting the squad with midfield and defensive reinforcements, as Marseille prepares to open the new season against Rennes on August 15.
