The 51st Junior National Aquatic Championship witnessed an exhilarating start as Manipur's Koijam Athoiba Singh and Goa's Purvi Ritesh Naik dominated the boys' and girls' 200m freestyle events, respectively. The duo's performances captivated the audience, setting a high bar for the ongoing competitions.
Athoiba Singh outpaced his competitors by strategically accelerating during the second lap, finishing with a time of 2:09.63, leaving Amith H Pavan from Karnataka in second. Meanwhile, Purvi Naik from Goa emerged victorious in a competitive girls' freestyle, clocking 2:18.35, pushing ahead of Serena Saroha and Stuti Singh.
The boys' 200m individual medley saw an impressive win for Hemanshu Nahakpam from Manipur with 2:23.80, while in the girls' category, it was Maharashtra's Heeva Bhavesh Patel who led the final lap to finish with a time of 2:40.81, ahead of close competitor Annika Goplani.
