South Africa's off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen has come under scrutiny after the first one-day international against Australia, with the ICC reporting concerns over his bowling action. The report, issued on Wednesday, highlighted the need for an independent assessment of Subrayen's action.

During the match, Subrayen took 1-46 in his ODI debut, helping South Africa secure a 98-run victory over Australia, leading the series 1-0. Despite these concerns, he will be allowed to bowl until the test results are revealed, under the rule permitting a 15-degree elbow bend during delivery.

This is not the first instance of scrutiny for Subrayen. His action was first deemed illegal in 2012 and again reported in subsequent years. Following remedial work and testing, he continued playing. South Africa is also without pace bowler Kagiso Rabada due to injury as the team prepares for further matches in Australia.
