Australia's cricket team is gearing up for an intense competition against world No. 1, India, ahead of the highly anticipated Ashes series. The Australians, led by T20 captain Mitchell Marsh, will host India for a series of three ODIs starting October 19, followed by a five-match T20I series.
In the absence of regular ODI skipper Pat Cummins, who is recovering from a back injury, Marsh will take the helm. Reflecting on the forthcoming matches, Marsh noted the significant rivalry and mutual respect shared between the two cricketing giants, emphasizing that playing against India in the lead-up to the Ashes is perfectly timed.
Highlighting the series' importance, the ODI matches will also mark the international return of Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. With the Ashes set to begin in Perth on November 21, Australia's squad selection anticipates intense competition as players build towards the series.
