Indian Women Make Strong Mark at U23 World Wrestling Championships

Indian women wrestlers showcased remarkable performances at the U23 World Wrestling Championships, with Hansika Lamba reaching the 53kg semifinal and Neha Sharma heading for a bronze medal match. Priya Malik secured India’s second medal, winning bronze in the 57kg category. The competition also saw strong participation in men's freestyle events.

Indian women wrestlers have extended their commendable performance at the U23 World Wrestling Championships. Hansika Lamba achieved a spot in the 53kg semifinal on Friday, while Neha Sharma successfully availed her repechage opportunity to compete for a bronze medal in the 57kg category.

The tournament saw Priya Malik securing India's second medal, winning a bronze with an impressive 8-1 victory over Edna Jimenez Villalba from Mexico. Other Indian wrestlers, Nishu (55kg), Pulkit (65kg), and Srishti (68kg), were set to compete for bronze medals the same day.

In the men's freestyle category, which also commenced on Friday, wrestler Pravinder (74kg) was defeated by American Mitchell Owen Mesenbrink and Sachin (92kg) faced an exit at the quarterfinal stage.
