Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, on Tuesday, inaugurated a series of state-of-the-art sports facilities at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, aiming to establish the state as a powerhouse of chess and sports excellence.
The Home of Chess Academy, constructed at a cost of Rs 28 lakh, was unveiled with the mission to nurture Grandmasters and World champions, reflecting the state's commitment to chess. Additionally, a Rs 50 lakh Para Badminton High Performance Centre was launched to support athletes in achieving success on national and international stages.
The inaugurations were concluded with the opening of an upgraded Ring-Roller Skating Centre, aiming to bolster Tamil Nadu's reputation in roller-skating. The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the Dravidian Model government's dedication to providing top-notch facilities for producing champions across various sports disciplines.
