In a historic moment for Bangladesh cricket, Taijul Islam emerged as the country's leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, surpassing the esteemed Shakib Al Hasan. This milestone was achieved during the second Test against Ireland at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Islam took his record-breaking wicket in the sixth over of Ireland's second innings, securing 248 Test wickets in 57 matches to trump Shakib's 246 in 71 games. Taijul's impressive record includes 17 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket performances, showcasing his pivotal role in Bangladesh's bowling attack.

The series sees Bangladesh on top with a robust first innings score of 476, fueled by Mominul's 87 and Rahim's century. Despite Ireland's resistance, Bangladesh declared at 297-4 in their second innings, setting a daunting target of 507 runs for Ireland, who still need 397 runs with 7 wickets remaining by Day 4's end.
