Slauson announces retirement after 10 NFL seasons
Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Matt Slauson announced his retirement via Instagram on Wednesday, ending a standout 10-year career during which he played for four different organizations. "It has been 10 amazing years," Slauson wrote. "4 organizations and countless friendships. What an amazing dream this has all been. ... It has been a very difficult decision but we are excited for what the next chapter holds."
Slauson, 32, started at right guard for the Colts this season until he suffered a fractured bone in his back in Week 5. He stayed active with the team the remainder of the season but did not play again. The Nebraska product, who was a sixth-round pick by the New York Jets in the 2009 NFL Draft, was a starter in 113 of the 116 games he played. He was reduced to 12 games the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and Colts.
In addition to playing with the Jets, Chargers and Colts, Slauson also played three seasons (2013-15) with the Chicago Bears. He played in three career playoff games, all in 2010 with the Jets. --Field Level Media
