UEFA Reduces Luis Diaz's Ban, Boost for Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich’s Luis Diaz had his Champions League ban reduced from three to two games by UEFA after a violent tackle on PSG’s Achraf Hakimi. The Colombian winger's appeal was successful, making him available for Bayern's match against Union Saint-Gilloise in January.
Bayern Munich forward Luis Diaz saw his Champions League suspension reduced from three matches to two, following a UEFA decision on Friday. The ban initially followed a violent tackle on PSG's Achraf Hakimi.
The Colombian winger's suspension stemmed from the game in which Bayern defeated Paris St Germain 2-1 in November, where Diaz was sent off for "serious rough play." UEFA upheld his appeal, although the details remain undisclosed.
As a result, Diaz will now be available for Bayern's upcoming match against Belgium's Union Saint-Gilloise in January. Currently third in their group with 12 points, Bayern has only suffered a loss to Arsenal in the tournament so far and will next take on Sporting Lisbon.
