Hideki Matsuyama ended his season triumphantly by clinching the Hero World Challenge on Sunday with an impressive 8-under 64 finish. Matsuyama hit a flawless 9-iron shot to within two feet on the first playoff hole, securing victory over Alex Noren after a tense duel.
The tournament kicked off with Matsuyama having already set a new PGA Tour record earlier this year at Kapalua. During the final, he took control at the Albany Golf Club by executing a stunning eagle from 116 yards out, which helped him surpass competitors Sepp Straka and Scottie Scheffler.
Noren, who returned to competition in May after a hamstring injury, rallied on the back nine with an 18-foot birdie putt to push into a playoff. Despite his efforts, Noren's 20-foot birdie attempt missed its mark. Matsuyama, garnering his 21st worldwide win, expressed delight at his victory, marking another successful holiday event for host Tiger Woods.
