Satadru Datta, the chief organizer of the Lionel Messi event held at Salt Lake stadium, was remanded in 14-day police custody by the court on Sunday amid allegations of event mismanagement that descended into chaos, police officials confirmed.
Amid claims of victimization, Datta's lawyer stated his expectation for clarity from forthcoming police investigations as Datta faces charges following his arrest at Kolkata airport where he accompanied Messi to his departure for Hyderabad.
The disorder, also marked by questioning of banned item sales inside the stadium, provoked a protest from BJP supporters outside the court, arising from fan frustration over brief Messi appearances and high ticket costs.
