Two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra has initiated his pre-season training in Potchefstroom, South Africa. This move follows the Sports Ministry's Mission Olympic Cell approval of a 32-day camp under the guidance of Jai Chaudhary, his new coach.
Chopra has parted ways with his previous coach, Czech legend Jan Zelezny, to reunite with Chaudhary, his former mentor. The star athlete will be training in Potchefstroom until February 5, with Rs 11.80 lakh allocated for this camp by the Sports Authority of India.
The primary goal of this focused training block is to enhance Chopra's physical conditioning, strength, and technical acumen ahead of key events like the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. Despite last year's setbacks, including an adductor muscle niggle, Chopra is gearing up for the 2026 season opener at the Doha Diamond League in May.
