Australia's cricket team is taking a cautious approach with key players' recoveries as they prepare for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup. Pace bowler Pat Cummins, recovering from a lower back injury, is set to join the World Cup squad a few games into the tournament in India and Sri Lanka.
Selectors, led by George Bailey, have decided to rest other significant players such as Josh Hazlewood and Tim David ahead of the World Cup, which runs from February 7 to March 8. Hazlewood recovers from hamstring and Achilles issues, while David nurses a hamstring strain.
Mahli Beardman and Jack Edwards have been named in the squad for the Pakistan series in Lahore, starting January 29. This series is considered an excellent opportunity for new talents to gain experience and exposure before the crucial World Cup games.
