Orioles sign veteran OF Young to minor league deal
Veteran outfielder Eric Young Jr. has signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles and will report to major league spring training, the team announced Tuesday. Young, 33, batted .202 with eight RBIs and five steals in 41 games last year with the Los Angeles Angels.
Young has a .245 career average over 10 seasons with the Angels (2017-18), New York Yankees (2016), New York Mets (2013-15), Atlanta Braves (2015) and Colorado Rockies (2009-13). He has stolen at least 25 bases in four seasons, including a National League-leading 46 steals in 2013.
Young has mostly started in left field, but has experience in right and center and would give the Orioles more flexibility if he makes the Opening Day roster. --Field Level Media
