Amelia Kerr, an all-rounder for New Zealand's women's cricket team, has been appointed as captain across all formats, according to New Zealand Cricket. She takes over from veteran Sophie Devine, who stepped down after the 2025 ICC Women's World Cup and relinquished the T20I captaincy.

Kerr, 25, will make her full-time captaincy debut leading both the ODI and T20I teams in an upcoming series against Zimbabwe. Expressing her excitement, Kerr called the captaincy a childhood dream, emphasizing her admiration for the growth and potential of her teammates.

Following in the footsteps of extraordinary leaders, Kerr remains committed to the spirit of the game and her teammates. Since debuting at age 16, she has accrued 3,757 runs and 201 wickets, becoming a key figure in New Zealand's cricket success, including the 2024 T20 World Cup triumph.
