Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has praised New Zealand openers Finn Allen and Tim Seifert, describing them as the most explosive and consistent duo in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Chopra noted their aggressive batting could pose a significant challenge to Indian bowlers in Sunday's final at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Chopra lauded the performance of the New Zealand pair, highlighting their bold play against teams like South Africa and the UAE. "Finn Allen and Tim Seifert have been the most explosive and consistent openers in the tournament. Allen, in particular, is dangerous with his wide range of strokes," Chopra remarked.
Chopra suggested bowlers should focus on limiting Allen's width outside off-stump and keep deliveries tight around the stumps. "It's crucial to deliver within the stumps to contain Allen," Chopra advised. Varun Chakaravarthy should bowl slightly slower, maintaining tighter lines to apply pressure, Chopra concluded.
In their journey to the World Cup final, New Zealand rebounded from group-stage defeats to reach the final, inspired by Allen's record-breaking century. Meanwhile, India, with recent T20I success against New Zealand, looks to maintain momentum despite history favoring the Kiwis in past T20 World Cups. (ANI)
