In a significant blow to Sunrisers Hyderabad's IPL 2026 campaign, Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards has been ruled out due to a foot injury, reported by ESPNcricinfo on Friday. Edwards, who was signed for Rs 3 crore, is the only uncapped overseas player acquired in the 2025 auction.
The 25-year-old Edwards debuted in T20 internationals for Australia against Pakistan earlier this year, marking his entry into the international scene with a match in Lahore. Despite his limited international exposure, Edwards has an impressive domestic T20 record with 853 runs and 52 wickets in 77 matches.
This injury follows a strong performance in the BBL 2025-26, where Edwards took 19 wickets and scored 133 runs for the Sydney Sixers. His unavailability is further burdensome for SRH, especially as regular captain Pat Cummins remains unfit. The Hyderabad team will have Ishan Kishan leading them until Cummins returns. Injuries have also sidelined other Australian bowlers like Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc from the IPL partially or completely.
