Brown tweets he, Roethlisberger lack 'mutual respect'

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro receiver Antonio Brown didn't hold back Saturday when a Twitter user asked him about the differences he has with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, saying the two lack "mutual respect." "No conflict just a matter of respect! Mutual respect! He has a owner mentality like he can call out anybody including coaches. Players know but they can't say anything about it otherwise they meal ticket gone. It's a dirty game within a game. #truth"

Brown has been active on Twitter this week. On Tuesday, he used the platform to announce his time in Pittsburgh was done. "Thank you SteelerNation for a big 9 years ... time to move on and forward," Brown tweeted with the hashtag #NewDemands.

On Saturday, Brown also shared via Twitter that his trade request has nothing to do with money. "Not for the money its for the love of the sport ! The commitment to win relentlessly consistently passionately ! Plus I made 70 million it's public record not to be cocky just truth! Time to play for my own Team AB84 the family !"

Brown and the Steelers ended the 2018 season on bad terms. He was benched for the final game of the season, reportedly after he threw a football at Roethlisberger when they had a disagreement earlier in Week 17. Brown, 30, has played for the Steelers since 2010 when the team drafted him in the sixth round. In 15 games last season, he caught 104 passes for 1,297 yards and a league-leading 15 touchdowns.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Steelers owner Art Rooney II plans to sit down with Brown, who has three years remaining on a five-year, $72.7 million contract extension that he signed before the 2017 season. --Field Level Media
