Top 25 roundup: No. 5 Kentucky takes down No. 1 Tennessee

PJ Washington scored 23 points, Keldon Johnson added 19 and No. 5 Kentucky flexed its muscles in taking down No. 1 Tennessee 86-69 in a Southeastern Conference showdown Saturday night in Lexington, Ky. Gael Monfils beat his training partner Stan Wawrinka 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 on Sunday at the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament to capture his first ATP Tour title in 13 months. It took one hour and 44 minutes for Monfils to win the match in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Frenchman now holds a lifetime 8-21 record in ATP Tour finals.

Golf: Thomas jumps four clear heading into final round at Genesis

Justin Thomas secured a four-stroke lead over Adam Scott and J.B. Holmes after the third round at the Genesis Open in Los Angeles on Sunday. After starting the round tied with Australian Scott, American Thomas jumped clear with a six-under-par 65 at Riviera.

Tennis: Monfils overcomes Wawrinka to lift World Super 6

France's Gael Monfils overcame a determined Stan Wawrinka to win the Rotterdam Open 6-3 1-6 6-2 on Saturday, lifting his first title since January 2018. In the first Rotterdam final between two unseeded players since 2008, Monfils raced past his Swiss opponent to convert two break points on his way to sealing the opening set in 36 minutes.

Kasatkina, Muguruza record nervy wins in Dubai

Russia's Daria Kasatkina roared back from a break down in the deciding set to beat Polish qualifier Magdalena Frech 6-3 3-6 6-4 in the opening round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Sunday. Before arriving in Dubai, 11th seed Kasatkina had lost all four of the matches she had contested this season and on Sunday struggled for the majority of the match against Frech, who was playing only her second top 20 opponent.

Qatar aims to build $20 billion sports sector ahead of World Cup

Qatar wants to attract more sports companies to the Gulf state, aiming to develop a $20 billion sports sector ahead of the 2022 World Cup, a senior official said on Sunday. Qatar Financial Center (QFC) - which licenses foreign companies, mostly in the finance sector, to exempt them from local ownership laws - aims to license about 150 sports companies by 2022, including around 25 this year, QFC's CEO Yousuf Al-Jaida said at an event to announce the strategy. He did not give any names.

NHL roundup: Allen's shutout lifts Blues to ninth straight win

Jake Allen made 32 saves for his second shutout of the season, Vladimir Tarasenko and Zach Sanford scored 57 seconds apart, and the St. Louis Blues beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-0 on Saturday in Denver. Ryan Fox claim his maiden European Tour title with a comprehensive 3&2 victory over Spaniard Adrian Otaegui in the final of the World Super 6 at Perth's Lake Karrinyup Country Club on Sunday. The 32-year-old New Zealander finished eight-under after 54 holes to earn a bye into the last 16 of the six-hole knockout stage and was the last man through to the quarter-finals after edging out Thai Jazz Janewattananond.
