Buccaneers sign former Cardinals RB Ellington

Andre Ellington has signed with Tampa Bay, where the former Arizona Cardinals running back will rejoin new Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians. Like Arians, Ellington was out of the NFL in 2018.

Ellington rushed for 1,750 yards and 10 touchdowns in 61 games while playing for Arians from 2013-17. He also caught 145 passes for 1,296 yards and three TDs during that span. Terms of the deal announced Tuesday were not immediately available.

Ellington, who turned 30 this month, was waived by the Cardinals midway through the 2017 campaign and claimed by the Houston Texans. He played in four games for Houston, totaling only 11 touches. Ellington was Arizona's sixth-round pick out of Clemson in the 2013 NFL Draft.
