Despite the embarrassing on-court incident of throwing up during the second set, Gauff's determination did not falter. ''I'm someone who doesn't like to pull out,'' Gauff mentioned, emphasizing her resolve to complete the match unless absolutely necessary. The young American displayed mental toughness, recovering from being a break down multiple times in the second set.

Gauff, who was a finalist in last year's tournament, said she felt normal in the morning and attributed her condition to a sudden onset of symptoms. ''The pills I received post-incident were helpful,'' she noted, ''but the task was to finish the game without further mishap.'' Gauff is set to play No. 13 seed Linda Noskova in the next round.
