Royal Challengers Bengaluru's opener, Phil Salt, has been forced to fly back to England due to a finger injury that transpired last month. The injury, sustained during a game against the Delhi Capitals, has resulted in Salt missing the last three matches, with Jacob Bethell stepping up as his replacement.

Salt suffered the injury while diving to save a boundary at deep backward square leg, leading to a ''damaged finger on his left hand.'' Now in England on the directives of the ECB's management team, Salt has had scans to assess the damage.

The team remains optimistic about Salt's recovery, with hopes he can return to the Indian Premier League later in the month. Salt made a strong start to the season before his injury, amassing 202 runs with an impressive strike rate. Meanwhile, RCB stands second on the points table.
